Driveways in Randburg take Highveld storms and, increasingly, heavier vehicles than they were built for. A base compacted properly in layers is the difference between paving that stays flat for decades and paving that ruts within two summers.
Randburg is defined by a broad, mostly residential belt of 1960s–80s freestanding homes now mixed with townhouse complexes and busy neighbourhood retail strips, and what people build here follows directly from that.
Because Randburg sits within City of Johannesburg, the approval route, the building-line rules and the occupancy certificate all run through them. We manage that submission as part of the contract rather than leaving you to chase it.
Paving services we provide in Randburg
Driveways
Domestic and commercial driveways with a base designed for the vehicles that will actually use them.
Patios & entertainment areas
Level, well-drained outdoor living areas that tie into the house and the garden.
Walkways & garden paths
Paths, steps and edging that stay put instead of drifting apart.
Parking areas
Commercial parking with the base, falls, bays and edge restraints the traffic requires.
Base preparation & compaction
Excavation, sub-base and base layers compacted in lifts — the part that determines whether it lasts.
Drainage & stormwater
Falls, channels and outlets so water leaves rather than sitting against the house or washing out the base.
Kerbing & edge restraints
Edges that hold the paving together, without which every driveway spreads sideways in time.
Repairs & re-laying
Lifting, re-basing and re-laying settled or rutted areas, reusing your existing pavers where they are sound.
What we see in Randburg
Complexes, clusters and estates
Cluster and estate living is a defining feature of Randburg, and it changes how building work has to be run. Estates have their own building rules, approved contractor lists, working hours and levies, and the body corporate usually has to approve the alteration before the municipality ever sees it. We are used to working inside those rules rather than discovering them at the gate.
Fit-outs, tenants and handovers
Commercial space in Randburg changes hands often, and each tenant leaves something behind — a partition, a counter, services nobody documented. When we take on a fit-out we establish what is really there before we add to it, so the next handover is cleaner than the last.
Downtime is the real cost
On commercial sites in Randburg the contract price is rarely the biggest number — the closed days are. That shapes how we programme: long-lead items ordered before we start, the disruptive work packed into agreed windows, and a realistic date given up front rather than an optimistic one.

Paving in Randburg — your questions answered
Why did my driveway sink?
Almost always the base. Paving laid on a thin layer of sand over unprepared ground will carry a person comfortably and fail under a vehicle. Re-laying the same bricks on a properly built base usually solves it permanently.
Can you re-use my existing pavers?
Often, yes — if they are structurally sound we lift, clean and re-lay them on a new base, which saves a significant part of the cost. Where they are cracked or worn through we will say so.
How long before I can drive on it?
Interlocking paving is generally usable very soon after the joints are filled and compacted. Where there is concrete edging or a bedding that needs to cure, we will give you a specific time rather than a guess.
What about drainage?
It is part of the design, not an afterthought. Sealing a large area changes where rain goes, and paving that drains towards a house causes damp problems that cost far more than the paving did.
Do you do permeable paving?
Yes. It is worth considering on large areas where stormwater is a concern, and some estates and municipalities encourage or require it.
Do you clean up afterwards?
Yes, and during. Rubble is removed rather than stockpiled on the pavement, the site is left safe at the end of each day, and the handover includes a proper clean — not a broom pushed through it.
