What helps when you first call

Tell us your suburb, roughly what you are planning, and whether you have plans already drawn or approved. If it is a repair, when it started and whether it is getting worse. Photographs sent by WhatsApp are worth several minutes of description — particularly for roof leaks, cracks and damp.

What a site visit involves

• We look at the property, take measurements and photographs, and talk through what you want.
• We tell you on the day whether the job needs approved plans, and whether it needs an engineer.
• You get an itemised written quote afterwards — scope, exclusions and a stage programme.
• If we think your budget and your brief do not match, we say so then rather than later.
• There is no charge and no obligation for any of it.

If something is leaking or unsafe

Active roof leaks, burst pipes, collapsed ceilings and structural cracks that are visibly moving should be phoned in rather than emailed. Move what you can out of the way, take photographs for your insurer before anything is cleaned up, and call us. We will tell you honestly whether it needs someone today or whether it can wait for a proper assessment.

Quotes and comparisons

When you are comparing builders, compare line by line rather than on the total. The cheapest quote is usually the one with the most left out — plans and approvals, rubble removal, making good, scaffolding, VAT. Ask each builder what their number excludes, and the real differences show up very quickly. Ours are itemised precisely so you can do that.
